Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg reacted to a U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Deal by pledging $15 million to the United Nations’ climate change efforts.

 

As a billionaire and the eighth richest person in the world, he can afford to — unlike all the ordinary taxpayers and low-income households who would have been saddled with the burden of living up to the agreement. One of the many pieces of his media empire, Bloomberg Businessweek, promoted the same pro-Paris Climate Accord perspective. That one-sided June 1, story claimed the U.S. would be the “loser” if Trump abandoned the deal.


From drunken driving and Titanic sinking comparisons, to complaints about the impact on “racial justice,” liberals lost it when President Donald Trump officially announced the U.S. would quit the Paris Climate Accord.

The president held a press conference on June 1, saying the nation would walk away from the deal, but he was open to renegotiating a “fair” deal which would not harm the U.S. economy and result in job losses for American workers.

Liberals always greet proposals to reduce government spending with panic and fear mongering. The left-wing media’s response to President Donald Trump’s 2018 budget proposal was no exception. In the words of liberal sites and publications like Slate, Alternet, The New York Times and The Guardian, the “heartless” budget was everything from “cruelty” to delusion.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped sharply on May 17. The broadcasts networks all reported it that night, attributing the drop to accusations of potential wrongdoing by the president. ABC World News Tonight with David Muir blamed “turmoil” in Washington over the fact that a special counsel had been appointed that day for the Russia investigation. Former FBI director Robert Mueller was selected to lead that probe.


If there were any doubts about how interconnected left-wing groups and donors are, Michael Bloomberg and Carl Pope’s new book, Climate of Hope, puts them to rest. George Soros, major financer of the left-wing agenda, was mentioned in the very first paragraph of the first chapter. Climate of Hope was released April 18, 2017, in an effort to show how cities and businesses can “save the planet” from catastrophic climate change.


Using a tired line he’s been recycling since at least 2003, former vice president Al Gore criticized the media’s coverage of climate change — for not blaming it enough.

"Every night on the news is like a nature hike through the Book of Revelation," Al Gore said on May 6, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He had been asked about how the news media reports the issue. Gore said he would "wait for the newscasters to connect the dots," but claimed they rarely do.


April marked the lowest unemployment rate in a decade, but that didn’t stop one NBC news show from spending far more time covering jobs being lost to Mexico.

“Hiring picked up,” that month according to CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley. All three broadcast network evening shows reported the “positive” jobs report which the Bureau of Labor Statistics released May 5. But the evening shows spent very little time on it that night even though the national unemployment rate dipped to 4.4 percent — the “lowest in ten years.”


The CEO of AT&T insisted that tax reform spurs business investment, which will lead to hiring and wage growth in an interview with CNBC’s Squawk Box a week after the president proposed reforms.

AT&T CEO and chairman Randall Stephenson sat down with the Squawk Box crew on May 4, to discuss several issues including the possibility and impact of a tax reform plan on the U.S. economy. Although specifics regarding President Donald Trump’s tax reform proposal was not mentioned, it seemed to underpin the conversation.


Proposing tax cuts is the surest way to turn the liberal news media into deficit hawks. That’s exactly what happened in network coverage of President Donald Trump’s tax plan.

The liberal media love big spending and Big Government, until Republicans take over. It’s part of a double standard they apply on the issue of debt and deficits. A liberal like President Barack Obama can help create a $1.4 trillion deficit (and that was just the first year) and that’s no problem.


It was a “moment made for Bill Nye,” so The Washington Post said. The Post was referring to the April 22, March for Science, but they could just has easily been making a broader point about Nye’s recent resurgence and the media reaction. It doesn’t seem to matter that his new show is heavy on entertainment, light on science and filled with liberal propaganda.


In case there was any doubt which side The New York Times favors when it comes to climate change opinions, the paper devoted three entire pages to “the effects of President Trump’s environmental policy.”

Just a day after Earth Day — on April 23 — the front page of the Sunday Review section of the Times featured an enormous graphic illustration of planet Earth and the headline “The Planet Doesn’t Have Time for This.” Beneath that, a subhead attacked President Donald Trump and warned the planet might “never recover” from his climate policies.


Left-wing filmmaker Josh Fox launched his latest film, Awake, a Dream from Standing Rock, online April 22 — after it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Predictably, liberal media including Reuters, The Washington Post and The Hollywood Reporter heralded the movie and ignored inaccuracies of his earlier, biased documentaries attacking the oil and gas industry. The film was called “timely,” and “powerful.” Fox was even credited for his “deep understanding of pipelines” and for getting in the way of the indigenous people telling their story.

MRC Vice President of Business and Culture Dan Gainor called out the media for downplaying an Islamic connection to a recent shooting in Fresno, California. Kori Ali Muhammad, a black Muslim allegedly gunned down three white individuals and shouted “Allahu Akbar” when he was arrested. However the Associated Press tweeted the phrase in English as “God is Great.” The story only admitted later the Arabic phrase was uttered and the gunman was Muslim.


The media were thrilled when a statue of a defiant little girl was placed opposite Arturo Di Modica’s famous “Charging Bull” on Wall Street. To the networks, it became a “symbol,” a “sensation” and female empowerment.

“Symbols spoke volumes,” NBC Chief Environmental Affairs correspondent Anne Thompson said of the statue “facing down Wall Street’s famous bull,” on March 8. The networks didn’t seem to mind that “Fearless Girl” was really a clever corporate advertisement for “SHE” — an exchange traded fund offered by State Street Global Advisors.


Climate Progress founding editor Joe Romm is furious with The New York Times for hiring a person he claims is an “extreme climate science denier.”

Romm was referring to Pulitzer Prize winner Bret Stephens of the Wall Street Journal. His rant on Think Progress against the paper included Holocaust denialism and the KKK.


Popular Mechanics downplayed the potential devastation of a North Korean electromagnetic pulse attack calling one former CIA director’s take “not realistic.”

Ambassador R. James Woolsey (and former CIA director) co-wrote an opinion piece for The Hill on March 29, arguing that “the press and public officials ignore or under-report” the threat of an EMP attack by North Korea.


President Donald Trump got elected with promises to rev up the economy and create millions of jobs, so he has made sitting down with CEOs, executives and small business leaders a priority. Only it’s been a media priority to ignore it.

On April 4, Trump was at it again — holding more meetings — this time, a speech to trade leaders and a town hall with 50 CEOs, according to Fox Business. None of the network news programs mentioned it that night. Adding those executives to another 49 separate CEOs he already met with, Trump has sat down with at least 99 business leaders since taking office.
